Meet Our Team
Hi-Tech Electronics opened its doors in early 1983 as a small electronics repair shop working on just about anything that came in the front door. Television repair was our mainstay and carried us through the earliest years of operation.
Gary Politika
Born in New Jersey, Gary made Port Angeles his permanent home in 1971 after being stationed here in the US Coast Guard.
Gary started Hi-Tech in 1982 upon completing the electronics program at Peninsula College and has guided the company to steady growth over the last 26 years. His firm belief in customer service and maintaining a broad base of expertise has served the company well.
Hobbies include steelhead and salmon fishing, working on his family’s new home, online poker, and walking the flats and beaches of Mexico with his fishing pole in hand. Gary’s wife Diana owns a popular local nursery, The Greenhouse and son Nick recently graduated Port Angeles High School.
Mike Shirley
Born and raised in Forks, Mike moved to the Port Angeles area in 1975. He and Gary became friends at Peninsula College while both were completing the electronics program in 1981-1982. Joining Hi-Tech a few short months after the company was formed, Mike is proud to have been a member of the Hi-Tech family for over 26 years. His organizational skills have been a key component in the success of the company. Interests include snow skiing, bicycling and traveling with his life mate Rosslynn in their motor home.
Clark Jones
Clark has been with us for 22 years after a 20-year career in the Coast Guard. Clark spent many years in our repair department before joining our satellite install team. He loves his job, enjoys meeting people and it shows. While planning his retirement, he continues to be a respected and irreplaceable member of our team.
Kim Medley
A local girl from Port Angeles, Kim has been in charge of the accounting department of Hi-Tech for 21 years. Her skill at managing the ever-changing requirements of a growing business has proven to be invaluable during her career at Hi-Tech. Kim’s interests include being involved with her husband’s car racing, camping and spending time with family. Kim lives in Port Angeles with her husband, Gary, son Gavin, and dogs, Lucy and Molly.
Ryan Rutherford
A highly appreciated 12-year employee, Ryan specializes in the installation of security systems, fire alarm systems, home theater setups, and audio systems. As one of our licensed low voltage electricians, Ryan supervises most of our projects from prewire to completion. His favorite pastimes include reading, video games, and being involved with his kids sports teams. Ryan lives in Port Angeles with his wife, Tanya and their kids, Josh, Bryce, Bree and Danielle.
Field Mead
With his 10 years experience in electronics retail, we considered ourselves fortunate when Field joined our sales staff 8 years ago. His comprehensive knowledge of consumer electronics makes him our “go to” guy for technical questions and advice. With his easy going manner, he makes your shopping experience with us a learning experience rather than a pressured sales pitch. Interests include snow and water skiing, volunteer ski patrol at Hurricane Ridge, spending time with his wife, Gena, and their 5 and 3 year old daughters Vail and Waverly.
Joe Politika
Joe brings his degree in business and experience in retail to enhance our sales department and also guide our advertising section. His low-pressure sales approach coupled with product familiarity make for a comfortable sales experience in our showroom. Joe has been with us for 8 years and is a highly valued member of our team. Joe’s hobbies include golf, travel, watching WSU Cougar football and basketball, and spending time with is wife Kim, son Rylan, and daughter Morgan.
